چکیده

A robust and high-resolution 2-D imaging algorithm is proposed for retrieving the shape of conductive objects embedded in a uniform lossy and dispersive medium. The target is modeled in terms of the location of of points which represents the outer contour of the object together with the parameters of the medium. A nonlinear least squares fitting is applied to the estimated scattered waveform to adjust the model parameters. The estimated waveform is computed using the extended ray tracing method which incorporates with the edge diffraction waves. The performance of the algorithm is examined with numerical simulations and test site experiments. The simulation with clutters also revealed the robustness of the algorithm even under a fairly strong clutter environments. Keywords—Clutter rejection, radar imaging, subsurface radar data processing.

Subsurface Damage Detection of a Multi-layer Lossy Medium Using Simulated Monostatic Gpr Responses

Detecting subsurface damages in multi-layer lossy media has been an important topic in the application of GPR (ground penetrating radar) on civil infrastructure systems such as bridges and roadways. In these systems, the presence of subsurface damages including interlayer delaminations, air voids, and material cracking can result in a premature failure of the systems and, thus, must be inspecte...

Computational modeling of on-contact antennas for the detection and localization of anti-personnel landmines via ground penetrating radar

Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) is a mature technology which has developed into a popular tool for subsurface imaging; however its application in landmine detection is still in its infancy. Landmines are typically buried in dispersive soils below a rough surface where the effectiveness of conventional air-coupled GPR is limited. By utilizing ground-contact antennas the signal penetration is dram...
